Mountain Refuges

In Mandello del Lario, each refuge has its own history and many are considered legendary in the mountaineering world. Some are examples of great engineering, built in difficult places with sophisticated materials, others are simple and basic.

Some can host hundreds of people, others very few; some are guarded, others have no manager.

"Each is a home, a safe place, a shelter."

Without refuges, going to the mountains would be much harder, more risky and more challenging.

The mountain territory of Mandello, as well as that of the surrounding municipalities, is rich in alpine huts. Here is the list:
